"My love, and specialty, is brain injury. Every day we are challenged to be 'on our game' and individualize therapy for each patient. And most rewarding is the fact that — by and large — patients make lots of progress while they are with us. We work in teams with diagnosis specialties, and this collaborative model supports the holistic/patient-centered approach to rehab that we embrace.
"I also appreciate the education aspect of my job — it's important and very rewarding to educate and support patients and families who trust us with their care in times of fear, confusion and despair.
"I have worked on several rehab cases that were uninsured and CPMC Foundation provided funding to pay for the care of these patients. Philanthropy serves our community in so many valuable ways. That's why I participate in the employee-giving campaign and have included CPMC in my estate plan, to meet my obligation to give back."
