Wilma Patrick
A Nurse Who Knew the Joy of Giving
When Wilma Patrick graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in 1941, she moved to Oak Harbor, Washington, and lived a life of family and service, becoming a driving force behind creating the island's first hospital. But she always remembered St. Luke's Hospital in her philanthropy. Her generous legacy gift helps ensure that the St. Luke's Campus will continue for others.
"Mother was greatly appreciative of the training as a nurse she received through the St. Luke's Nursing School. She was also grateful that when, as an 18-year-old, without the support of family or friends, the nursing school and hospital provided her with a home and community. One of her great joys was in knowing that she could acknowledge the kindness she experienced, and the education she received, through financial gifts during her lifetime as well as a bequest in her will."
